The Maka’eo trail, where the Lorax meets the Mad hatter.

Barely a mile from the downtown resorts here in Kona town lies a peculiar but well loved trail near old airport.  You can find this on Google maps and it’s a place we all go too after work. However this unique trail is the highlight of our topic today.

Local people like to drive here and enjoy a run or stroll along with there children.  The landscape is very different and awe inspiring.

There are lots of hidden holes and shaded areas anytime of the day.

Anyone up for a tea party?

You will not leave this place without an understanding of culture,  community, and well being. I found myself rifling through guide books and research for hours. Forgetting time and just feeling at peace.

This journey began near the south entrance.  No wheels allowed here only footsteps.  Then we continued out of the gardens.

There were people practicing quigong here, so beautiful to watch. The cat man was feeding the feral. Cats are a problem here and if you are not aware, they will attack you.

Mahalo to all, and thank you to uncle Jon. He said I must stay for sunset.
