Our ski trip took us from Schweitzer to Whitefish Montana, Big mountain they call it. We arrived a little late as the time change added too spring forward. Looking at the trail maps were overwhelming.

We decided to try to tackle the back side first. The sun was out and the runs on that side were soft. It was gorgeous and there was a half-pipe slalom.

After that we took a run on the hell-roaring gulch. It’s appropriately named. Today it was icy so the skiers were intermediate. It’s probably a sweet spot when the conditions warrant.

We took a break at the top lodge with amazing views of glacier and Canada. Then as the clock ticked we discovered the face. It was gorgeous and the snow was ice cream.

I loved Big mountain and look forward to visiting again. I would recommend this mountain to all levels of skiers. The vibe was sweet and the kids were everywhere like bee’s on a hive.
